My work combines real backyard experience, science-informed insight, and honest reflection to show how gardening can support purpose, patience, creativity, mobility, and hope.
Frequently Asked Questions
When are Fiora Lab seeds available?
Fiora Lab seeds are not for sale.
Are the seeds germination tested?
Yes. Fiora Lab sends seed samples for purity and germination testing through the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, with a goal of at least 90% germination under ideal conditions.
How should I choose which plants to save seed from?
Do not save from the first pretty bloom alone. Watch the whole plant. Look for strong growth, healthy foliage, useful stems, good branching, continued bloom production, and flower color or form you want to see again.
When should I harvest zinnia seed?
After a bloom opens, give it about one more month to mature before harvesting for seed. Let the flower head dry fully before storing the seed.
How should I store saved zinnia seed?
Store fully dry seed in labeled paper envelopes, then place the envelopes inside an airtight container with a desiccant packet. Keep seed cool, dry, and dark.
